Barnard Castle children’s nursery opens forest school

Hannah Hurley, Nursery Owner of Rooftops Barnard Castle and Rooftops Montessori Nursery in Richmond said; “By letting children explore outdoors they can learn so much from our natural environment. Outdoor child led play encourages self development, confidence, self esteem and independence.”

Hannah went on to say “I believe in investing in both our children and our staff, rated Ofsted ‘Good’ we encourage all and constantly look for new ways for children to learn. I believe our forest school which is unique in this area will give them an amazing opportunity”.

Run in local woods and using the vast outdoor garden area which is currently under refurbishment, children will explore den building, making bug hotels, bread making, campfire songs, nature collages and mud kitchens.

Sessions will initially run 29 July to 9 August for three to five year olds Monday to Friday and five to eight year olds during the school holidays 9-3pm. From September Forest School will be fully open all year round.

Limited places for each session in July and August are now available so you are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment by calling Chloe Broderick, Nursery Manager Barnard Castle on 01833 690620 or Debbie Kilburn, Nursery Manager Richmond on 01748 823667.
